What started off as a hobby, is now a fully fledged craft
beer microbrewery in Shaka’s Head on the Dolphin Coast just outside
Ballito. We are currently producing
eight international favorites.
“We have eight different styles: Our Czech Dark Pilsner,
German Marzen lager; Bohemian Pilsner, a classic Pilsner with a twist; German
Weiss beer; Irish Red Ale; Strawberry Ale, a Belgian Witbier (made with bitter
orange peel and coriander), and our latest and most popular our Ballito Belgian
Ale.”
#5.Old Main Brewery
OMB was started by 2 brothers in Kwa-Zulu Natal a couple
decades ago. That’s right. It was years before everyone and their neighbor started
launching craft beer into the market. These boys experimented making their
first beer (out of pineapple and any other fruit they could find) before they
learned to drive a car or kiss a girl. Getting their boarding school friends
good and plowed on a regular basis, they were possibly the first bootleggers in
history under the legal drinking age.
